Can we exploit the increase in computational resources and use data-driven methods, such as classical Bayesian inference-based data assimilation techniques or recently developed deep learning networks? The candidate will have stateof-the-art GPU computational facilities and will work with other group members to tackle the most challenging problems in timeseries forecasting with wide-ranging applications from wind energy to drag reduction and financial markets. The student will work in collaboration with other team members and have access to research facilities at Guangdong Technion and Technion-IIT, Israel. International students are welcome. The tuition will be fully covered and a generous stipend is offered (per month RMB 7000/4200 in Shantou and $ 2167/1410 in Haifa). The degree is from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, which is among the most reputed universities in the world, and we maintain the same qualification standards at Guangdong Technion. Guangdong Technion is a brainchild of Technion Israel. It is located in the picturesque city of Shantou, which boasts beautiful coastal scenery and has recently emerged as a hub of fast growing wind industry.
