research focus
we seek talented students to join a cutting-edge research project that explores novel electrical properties of advanced 2d-materials devices and 2d liquids confined inside. the phd will combine advanced 2d heterostructure fabrication with scanning probe microscopy to reveal the electrical properties associated to quantum and interfacial phenomena between 2d crystals and liquids that are yet unknown. you will work under main supervision of dr fumagalli in collaboration with nobel laureate prof. andre geim in a vibrant research environment. the research project will directly follow up on recent works recently published by this collaboration in nature and science journals listed below [1,2].

the research will be based at the national graphene institute (ngi) at the university of manchester, equipped with world-class research facilities and a leading staff in 2d materials at the forefront of 2d-materials research.
