We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to develop 3D microfabricated shape-memory, implantable stents. These stents will be made from biocompatible, bioresorbable, and sustainable polymers with shape-memory functions, designed in tailored dimensions for medical applications in various endoluminal structures. Obstructions in blood vessels, urethra, airways, and esophagus impose a significant burden on patients, creating a high demand for customized bioresorbable stents produced through microfabrication. A key challenge lies in the high-resolution 3D printing of bioresorbable materials suitable for customized stents with shape-memory properties. This research aims to address these challenges by fabricating bioresorbable shape-memory materials using two-photon laser lithography. The stents will incorporate auxetic meta-structure mechanical designs, with features as small as a few microns and overall dimensions from millimeters to centimeters. These shape-memory devices will be developed for treating thrombosis, airway stenosis, esophageal obstruction, and ureteral strictures.
