position: postdoctoral researcher in lithium battery recycling and membrane technology with electrochemistry background location: king abdullah university of science and technology (kaust), thuwal, saudi arabia job type: full-time, fixed-term overview: the inorganic membrane research lab led by prof. zhiping lai at king abdullah university of science and technology (kaust) is seeking two highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researchers to join our cutting-edge research teams. these positions will contribute to pioneering projects in (1) used lithium battery recycling and (2) membrane research with a focus on electrochemical applications. kaust offers an exceptional research environment with world-class facilities, fostering innovation and collaboration. position 1: postdoctoral researcher in used lithium battery recycling key responsibilities: • lead research projects aimed at developing novel methods for the recycling of used lithium batteries. • design and optimize processes for the recovery and purification of critical materials from spent batteries. • collaborate with industry partners to translate research outcomes into scalable and commercially viable technologies. • publish research results in high-impact scientific journals and present findings at international conferences. • mentor graduate students and assist in their research projects related to battery recycling. • contribute to securing research funding through grant writing and collaborative industry projects. position 2: postdoctoral researcher in membrane research with electrochemistry background key responsibilities: • conduct advanced research in membrane technology, emphasizing electrochemical applications such as batteries, energy storage, water purification by electroreduction, electrodialysis, co2 reduction, etc. • develop and evaluate novel membrane materials and electrochemical systems for enhanced performance. • utilize electrochemical techniques to improve membrane functionality and scalability. • work closely with interdisciplinary teams and external collaborators to integrate research findings into practical solutions. • disseminate research outcomes through publications in leading journals and presentations at scientific meetings. • provide guidance to graduate students and contribute to their academic and professional growth. • assist in securing funding for research initiatives through proposal development and collaborative efforts. qualifications: • ph.d. in chemical engineering, materials science, electrochemistry, or a related discipline. • strong expertise in either lithium battery recycling (for position 1) or membrane technology with electrochemical applications (for position 2). • proven record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields. • extensive experience in laboratory research, including experimental design and data analysis. • excellent problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset. • strong communication skills, both written and oral. • experience with industry collaboration and technology transfer is highly desirable. application process: interested candidates should submit the following documents: • a comprehensive cv detailing relevant experience and publications. • a cover letter indicating the position of interest and outlining research interests and future goals. • contact information for at least three academic or professional references. benefits: • competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience. • access to state-of-the-art research facilities and resources. • opportunities for professional development and networking. • collaborative and dynamic research environment. about kaust: king abdullah university of science and technology is a leading graduate research university located on the shores of the red sea. kaust is dedicated to advancing science and technology through interdisciplinary research and education. the university’s world-class facilities and collaborative environment provide an ideal setting for ambitious researchers to make significant contributions to global challenges. for more information, please visit our website: imr.kaust.edu.sa kaust is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in its faculty, staff, and student body. contact information: for inquiries about these positions, please contact zhiping.lai@kaust.edu.sa |
