PhD Positions in 2D materials chemistry and physics College University of Chemistry and Technology Prague Department Inorganic Chemistry Post Title PhD position Project 2D materials chemistry and physics Name of supervisor/Reports to Prof. Zdenek Sofer Group https://sofergroup.cz Contact address Research.sofergroup@gmail.com Description The research group of Prof. Zdenek Sofer at the University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT) Prague is seeking outstanding candidates passionate about research and motivated to pursue PhD position. Special emphasis on the opening PhD positions is placed on recruiting talented, self-motivated candidates with a solid background in physics, chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering. The successful candidates will work on synthesizing, growing, and characterization of 2D materials for energy storage, energy conversion, microelectronic and optoelectronic applications. The proposed research projects will focus on elucidating the crystal growth of novel 2D materials and their fabrication on state-of-the-art devices. Thus, Experience in the field of 2D materials, their crystal growth, fabrication, or characterization is mandatory. UCT Prague is a public higher education university pursuing scientific, research, development, and implementation activities. UCT Prague is known for the depth and breadth of its educational and research activities in almost all branches of chemistry. Requirements • University degree (MSc degree or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, materials science and chemical engineering. • Experimental background in 2D materials (crystals/thin film growth) and their applications in energy storage/conversion, microelectronic and optoelectronic. • Well-organized and self-motivated researcher with excellent communication skills (very good in written and spoken English). We Offer • Full-time contract for 48 months. • Work on the individual research topics described above. • Access to state-of-the-art equipment for 2D material research. • Enrolment in a 4-year PhD program in Inorganic Chemistry. • Competitive salary. • Employee benefits including 6 weeks of vacation and a catering allowance.
