24 Fall one PhD position through JDP MAE between UCSD and SDSU
|

One Ph.D. position is available through the Joint Doctorate Program (JDP) of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department at UC San Diego and San Diego State University for Fall 2024. Dr. Jun Chen is an assistant professor in San Diego State University Aerospace Engineering Department. His current research area includes dynamics, control, optimization and artificial intelligence, particularly in data-driven modeling, control and optimization for large-scale networked dynamical systems under uncertainty, with applications on air traffic control/management, UAS traffic management, and autonomous air/ground vehicle systems. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University and his B.S. degree in Aeronautics Engineering from Beihang University. The group is seeking highly motivated students for research positions in the area of control, optimization and machine learning with emphasis on autonomous systems. The research area includes computational optimal control, stochastic optimization, machine learning, distributed control/computing with applications on UAS traffic management and autonomous vehicles. The ideal candidate should have excellent mathematical background and strong programming skills (Python, C++, Julia or Matlab). Candidates with good knowledge of dynamics and control, optimization, machine learning/reinforcement learning, modeling and simulation, and UAVs are highly desired. Selected candidates could start as soon as Fall 2024. Postdocs and visiting students/scholars are also welcome. A PhD diploma is jointly awarded by UCSD and SDSU. 2.會(huì)有幾個(gè)導(dǎo)師？學(xué)習(xí)研究過(guò)程？ 錄取的學(xué)生每一學(xué)期都要在兩校注冊(cè)，Professor Chen和另一位UCSD的教授會(huì)是學(xué)生的co-advisors。第一年主要在UCSD上課修滿6-9門課程后參加首輪資格考試，之后主要在Professor Chen指導(dǎo)下做研究但也要和UCSD的co-advisor保持聯(lián)系，科研取得一定進(jìn)展后參加第二輪資格考試，最后論文答辯畢業(yè)。 3. 收費(fèi)情況？ Professor Chen 有經(jīng)費(fèi)預(yù)算支持學(xué)生繳納學(xué)費(fèi)和發(fā)放工資。 4.中途quit博士可以轉(zhuǎn)成碩士畢業(yè)嗎？ JDP program只授予博士學(xué)位。如果中途退出，不能轉(zhuǎn)碩。 |
