美國麻省大學(xué)阿默斯特分校 UmassAmherst 生物醫(yī)藥工程專業(yè) 招24Spring/Fall 全獎(jiǎng)PhD兩名 以及科研助理一名 Openings: We are looking for two fully funded PhD students (Spring2023 or Fall2024) and one research technician (Fall 2023) 申請(qǐng)截止日期: 春季入學(xué) October 1, 2023 秋季入學(xué) January 31, 2024 research technician is expected to join the lab in Sep 2023. About UMass Amherst: UMass is located in a beautiful and safe town of Amherst that offers a wealth of academic resources and state-of-the-art facilities. UMass has the largest campus in Massachusetts with rich academic resources. The university consistently ranks highly, currently at #66 among national universities and #26 among public schools. Notably, UMass Amherst has also earned recognition for its exceptional campus dining, leading The Princeton Review's Best Campus Food category for the sixth consecutive year. About the lab: Dr. Jingjing Gao's Laboratory at UMass Amherst focus on promoting healthy aging through the innovative creation of drug delivery strategies that maximize the efficacies of biotherapeutics to slow down or stop the progression of degenerative diseases. Current treatments for degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease or osteoarthritis only provide symptomatic relief and most of disease-modifying drugs have failed to make it to the market. To bridge this gap, we aim to create practical strategies that not only precisely release required doses of medicine per the patient’s need, but also develop approaches to skew the response of the body with desired efficacy by leveraging tools of materials chemistry, micro/nano/macro fabrication, biology and understanding of tissue/cell-material interactions. Dr. Gao’s work has been published in high-impact journals including JACS, Angewandte Chemie, Chemical Science, Trends in Pharmacological Sciences, Biomacromolecules, et al. Dr. Gao has received multiple awards such as “MIT Rising Stars in Chemical Engineering”, “Brigham Research Excellence Award”, “PMSE Future Faculty Scholar from American Chemical Society” and “William E. McEwen Graduate Fellowship Award for Outstanding Student Talk and outstanding poster presentation”. About mentoring: Dr. Gao is committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive lab environment where every member can thrive. Students joining the lab can expect a positive and collaborative atmosphere, where their thoughts and ideas are welcomed and valued. Dr. Gao understands the importance of personalized mentorship and will provide individualized guidance based on each student's unique personality, professional interests, and future career aspirations. The lab strives to create a supportive community that promotes holistic development and fosters a sense of belonging for all lab members. Requirements: • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Chemical Biology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Material Sciences or a related field, Masters are preferred. • Students with any of the following experience are preferred: 1) experience in drug delivery technologies (e.g., micro/nano particles, polymer coatings/matrices, and hydrogels). 2) In-vivo experiments, cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, PCR, tissue harvest and processing and other techniques as needed. 3) Relevant imaging experience, including scanning electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, and bright field microscopy. • Enthusiasm and willingness to accept challenges to perform high impact research. • Excellent communication, time management and teamwork skills. • For language requirements of the PhD program, please refer to https://www.umass.edu/graduate/apply/how-apply Contact: Interested candidates should submit the following documents to Dr. Jingjing Gao Email: jgao@umass.edu 1. Cover letter summarizing your research interests, relevant experience, and career goals. 2. Curriculum vitae (CV) including a list of publications (if any). 3. Academic transcripts from undergraduate and graduate institutions attended. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
