法國LP2N光學(xué)超表面方向招聘博后 已有2人參與

ERC project on optical metasurfaces and appearance. It is my pleasure to advertise the 5-year ERC project UNSEEN that will start in September 2023 on the generation of new visual #appearance with disordered #metasurfaces. Nature offers beautiful appearances produced by the interaction of light with nanostructures. Just think of the iridescence of thin layers of melanosomes on butterfly wings or bird plumages. Metasurfaces composed of arrays of resonant meta-atoms offer many degrees of freedom not found in biodiversity. At the nanoscale, a multitude of shapes and high-index materials can be used to control meta-atom resonances. At the wavelength scale, the resonance properties can be considerably enriched by mode hybridization. At the mesoscale, a combination of short- and long-range electromagnetic interactions produce complex interferences. This rich physics is absent from low-index natural morphologies. Therefore, the question arises if #metasurfaces with resonant meta-atoms may offer new visual appearances. This is the ambition of the UNSEEN project. It could spill over into many areas affecting coatings for Fine & Applied Art. Materials and a recent article arXiv:2211.09520 just published in ACS Nano https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsnano.2c10962. I am gathering a team to work on the project. We are looking for postdocs and PhD students, mainly postdocs for this first year, with skills in optical metasurfaces, complex media, computer graphics, rendering, structural color, Colloidal Chemistry, and nanophotonics.
