It is the satellite campus of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, a world-renowned institution located in Haifa (Israel) that is consistently ranked as a top-100 university and is known for its exceptional research and education. GTIIT is based in Shantou (Guangdong province, China) and will become a leading science and technology research university by leveraging the power of innovation combined with the rich Chinese culture. Please check out the website for more details: https://www.gtiit.edu.cn/en/index.aspx About the Open Positions These open positions refer to the Fluid-Powered Robotics Laboratory that is affiliated to the GTIIT’s Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Department. We conduct cutting-edge research in fluid-driven robotics and have access to top-tier test facilities. Our main areas of interest are about design, manufacturing, sensing, and control of both heavy-duty manipulators and soft robots. We are therefore hiring MSc Students, PhD Students, and Research Assistants to develop our research. Our researchers work to publish journal and conference papers with international visibility so that they can prepare themselves in the best possible way for their future career. In parallel, MSc Students and PhD Students will complete their degrees that have international recognition since they will be issued by the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Israel. For this reason, MSc Students and PhD Students are expected to spend a financially-supported visiting period in Israel (6-12 months) to better develop their research outcome. Suitable Research Assistants have the opportunity to start a MSc or PhD degree after 1-2 years of work at our laboratory, if they are interested. All these open positions offer a unique opportunity and a strong preparation to our researchers that will be competitive in any research group worldwide working on fluid-driven robotics. In fact, these positions involve different working methods (theoretical analyses, numerical simulations, and experimental tests) and give access to multiple fields (for example control theory, mechatronics, electric drives, or hydraulic systems just to name a few). All these open positions are 100% financially supported. The salary will depend on the candidate’s experience and is aligned with similar positions in the country. The fees for enrolling in the MSc and PhD degrees are paid by the research group so that the students can entirely focus on their research. Then, sufficient funds are already available to purchase all the tools required to develop a successful research (for instance, state-of-the-art equipment, consumables, or software licenses). Duties and Responsibilities These open positions requires the following duties and responsibilities: • Develop innovative research under the guidance of a faculty member. • Make any reasonable effort to become a successful researcher. • Support the preparation of research papers as the main author and/or as a co-author. • Identify, purchase, and supervise the installation of equipment for the experiments. • Support the development and correct functioning of experimental test-beds. • Propose new ideas to support innovative research. • Search and study useful material (papers and books) to support innovative research. • Participate in the laboratory activities (internal meetings or requested duties). Required Job Specifications • A background in Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field, is recommended. • At least, a basic knowledge of the English language is recommended at the beginning.
