Biological systems use complex macromolecular nanostructured networks to mediate a range of cellular functions, such as biomolecule synthesis, signal transduction, and gene expression and regulation, all with high efficiency and specificity. Mimicking these structures outside of the cell requires methods that offer nanoscale control over the organization of individual network components. In the past several years, the Fu lab has aimed to apply self-assembled molecular scaffolds to the organization of biomoleuclar network nanostructures, with the intention of understanding fundamental mechanisms and developing bio-mimetic systems for applications in molecular sensing, catalysis and smart drug delivery. Research themes include self-assembly of DNA and proteins, smart nanoreactor, nano/micro particles drug delivery and biosensing. The lab is also collaborating with faculty in Physics to develop plasmonic nanomaterials. The research of Fu Lab can be viewed at https://jinglinfu.camden.rutgers.edu/. The Fu lab is located at the new Joint Health Science Center Building, which is a joint research center between the Rutgers CCIB, Cooper Hospital and Rowan University. JHSC aims to boost the collaborative research focusing on Biomedical and diagnosis-related fields. The postdoctoral position will primarily focus on two topics: (1) Rapid nucleic acids detection for point-of-care (POC) use. This project is sponsored by industry-academic partnership, and will participate in the technology commercialization research. (2) Molecular self-assembly for engineering bio-mimetic nanomaterials for applications in catalysis, photonics and drug delivery. The qualified candidates should have a Ph.D (or expected Ph.D) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Biophysics, Bioengineering or other relevant fields. Experiences in DNA/protein selfassembly, nucleic acids technology, bio-vesicles/lipid membrane chemistry and molecular sensing are encouraged to apply. Rutgers is one of the oldest, most respected institutions of higher learning in the state of New Jersey, United Sates; Camden is a city, across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, known for its determination and resilience. In 2019, a new Joint Health Science Center (JHSC) Building was open to use, which is a joint research center between the CCIB, Cooper Hospital and Rowan University.
