課題名稱: Simulation for compression molding and mechanical properties of woven carbon fiber reinforced composites 編織碳纖維復(fù)合材料的成形與力學(xué)性能仿真與計算 培養(yǎng)方式:西交利物浦大學(xué) + 長三角先進(jìn)材料研究院 聯(lián)合培養(yǎng) 培養(yǎng)地點:蘇州 博士導(dǎo)師: Dr. Chen Xuan (西交利物浦大學(xué)); Dr. Weijian Han (長三角先進(jìn)材料研究院); Dr. Zuguo Bao (長三角先進(jìn)材料研究院)。采用產(chǎn)教研深度融合的聯(lián)合導(dǎo)師機制。 博士學(xué)位授予單位:英國利物浦大學(xué) 培養(yǎng)資助:全額獎學(xué)金(抵扣學(xué)費折合80000元/年);博士培養(yǎng)期間,額外提供不少于5000元/月生活補助,額外提供免費住宿。 入學(xué)要求: 學(xué)術(shù)要求: 申請者需為機械工程、制造工程、材料工程、應(yīng)用力學(xué)專業(yè)或相關(guān)領(lǐng)域。 英語語言成績要求: 雅思6.5分(單項不低于5.5分) 或同等水平托福、PTE成績。 Project Description Woven prepreg are commonly employed as raw materials for carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) composites. In compression molding, the prepreg will generate uneven deformation in the product which is determined by the localized strain. Thus, yarn angle in the product is usually different with the raw materials, which will cause the improper design for both manufacturing and performance of the products. This project aims to investigate the microstructure evolution of woven prepreg and its connection with mechanical properties of CFRP during the compression molding and develop a simulation tool for compression molding and mechanical properties of woven carbon fiber reinforced composites. Specifically, simulation of compression molding will be conducted to predict the microstructure evolution of woven prepreg in CFRP. Representative volume element method will be developed to construct relationship between the microstructure and material properties. Material properties and microstructure are tested for model input/validation. Finally, a design tool for woven CFRP product is developed by integrating the compression molding and mechanical properties prediction, providing the optimized solution including the materials, geometry, and manufacturing. Key Words: Carbon fiber, composites, simulation, representative volume element 西浦學(xué)術(shù)導(dǎo)師 XJTLU principal supervisor Dr. Chen Xuan. Having been educated/employed at several top universities in three continents, Dr Chen Xuan is an active researcher in the Maths Department at XJTLU. His research field includes constitutive theories of continua under multiphysical fields, stress induced phase transitions in solids, mechanics of smart materials and soft robotics. In recent years he won a few national and provincial research grants and supervised a large number of undergrad and grad students. He serves on review committees of various SCI journals. His work was presented in American Physical Society, International Liquid Crystal Elastomer Conference, British Liquid Crystal Society, ICTAM etc. He’s also sitting on the university’s Academic board member, Grad studies committee, Applied Maths Master’s program, math modeling competition, as well as being a research liaison person with the University of Liverpool. 集萃產(chǎn)業(yè)導(dǎo)師 JITRI co-supervisor Dr. Weijian Han received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Tulsa University and served as Director of Research and Advanced Engineering for the Asia Pacific at Ford before retiring in 2019. He led the team to carry out more than 100 research projects in China and published 8 books and over 40 academic articles on vehicle engineering. His technical expertise includes lightweight materials, smart manufacturing, environmental sciences etc. In 2020, Dr Han joined the Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Advanced Materials, and served as Director, focusing on the industrial materials database/platform construction and data-driven product design digital tools development. Dr. Zuguo Bao, Research Manager at Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Advanced Materials. He received his Ph. D. major in materials processing engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2015. From 2016 to 2020, he worked at Ford Motor Company, mainly focused on the R&D of plastics and polymer-based composites.
