************************************************************************** Multiple postdoctoral fellows/research associates (qualification: PhD) and research assistants (qualifications: bachelor’s or master's) openings are currently available in Surgical Robotics and Devices Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), led by Professor Shing Shin Cheng. The laboratory focuses on flexible surgical robots design, modeling and control, medical image processing, surgical instrument tracking and planning, smart sensors and actuators, sensor fusion, and application of artificial intelligence on surgical robotics. The multiple posts will last for 12-18 months, subject to mutual agreement. We are seeking strong and highly motivated candidates who have background in any of the following research areas: robotics, mechanical design, mathematical modeling, control, computer vision, smart materials, planning and navigation, and machine learning/deep learning. Preferences will be given to those who have experiences in medical robotics, soft robotics, and medical imaging-related research. The appointee will be expected to conduct high impact and potentially technology translatable research related to surgical robotics. He/She will assist the PI in supporting multiple research projects. The candidates should, by the beginning of their contracts, (i) have the qualifications mentioned above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related engineering disciplines; (ii) demonstrate effective written and spoken English. It is also expected that the postdoctoral fellow/research associate candidates have strong publication records in high impact factor journals. The contract can start as early as September 2021. Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
