Postdoctoral Position Opportunity in Peking University

description: lab of environmental and energy information engineering at school of environment and energy (see), peking university (https://qgy.codepku.com/), invites applications for a hydro-climate postdoctoral scholar to join a new project on process-based environment monitoring via unmanned aerial vehicle (uav) with applications in in the fields of environmental technology, water environment, water resource, ecohydrology, and remote sensing. by developing and applying uav technologies, our research will support climate adaptation planning in cities while advancing basic scientific understanding of the physical processes that drive urban micro-climate and hydrology. this position provides an excellent opportunity to work with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team in the lab of environmental and energy information engineering at see, which is a renowned center of scientific expertise in many facets of urbanization- and climate-related fundamental and applied science. the successful candidates are expected to work on one of the following topics: developing and applications of uav in urban environment monitoring, research and development of technology on vehicle energy saving and emission reduction, urban and catchment evapotranspiration, and urban thermal environment monitoring and mitigation. salary: about usd 42500 a year. the successful candidates who meet the requirements of local government can apply for the talent plan (1.6 million cny, about 225000 usd). period: 2 years. requirements: (1) recent ph.d. in environmental engineering, hydrology, remote sensing or a closely related field. (2) demonstrated knowledge of hydrological processes; (3) previous experience in remote sensing and field work. (4) demonstrated proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as r, python, matlab or similar. (5) demonstrated excellent oral and written skills for presentation of research. (6) ability to work in an integrated team environment additional desired (not required) qualifications: (1) experience with regional or catchment scale atmospheric modelling and land-atmosphere interactions.
