Virginia Commonwealth University （VCU, 弗吉尼亞聯(lián)邦大學(xué)）位于美國(guó)弗吉尼亞州州府里士滿(mǎn)，是美國(guó)130所一類(lèi)研究型大學(xué)之一(R1: Doctoral Universities – Highest research activity)，世界大學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)排名穩(wěn)定在全美前一百名，世界兩百名左右。VCU化學(xué)系在生命分析化學(xué)，納米科學(xué)，化學(xué)生物學(xué)，物理化學(xué)等領(lǐng)域科研實(shí)力雄厚，并與VCU醫(yī)學(xué)院建立了廣泛的合作關(guān)系�；瘜W(xué)系全職教授曾獲得2002年諾貝爾化學(xué)獎(jiǎng)�；瘜W(xué)系博士研究生將享有每年$24,000 至 $25,000的工資，學(xué)費(fèi)由學(xué)�；�?qū)熑~支付。 2019年起，VCU化學(xué)系特別優(yōu)先考慮來(lái)自中國(guó)的研究生申請(qǐng)，對(duì)條件優(yōu)秀的申請(qǐng)者可免除申請(qǐng)費(fèi)。歡迎符合條件的申請(qǐng)人聯(lián)系王學(xué)偉博士（wangxue@umich.edu）或直接提交申請(qǐng)(https://vcugrad.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login)。 王學(xué)偉博士（現(xiàn)任密西根大學(xué)Research Scientist）主要從事化學(xué)傳感器和醫(yī)學(xué)植入物的研究，現(xiàn)主持全球最大的糖尿病基金會(huì)（JDRF）資助的人工胰腺系統(tǒng)（Artificial Pancreas）的研究和密歇根大學(xué)資助的可穿戴光化學(xué)傳感器的研究。王學(xué)偉博士將于2019年夏季在VCU組建分析化學(xué)課題組，熱烈歡迎來(lái)自中國(guó)的研究生。 與申請(qǐng)相關(guān)的部分信息如下： 1. Is the GRE required and what is the minimum GRE score? The general GRE is required. The GRE subject test is optional. Individual exceptions to this requirement may be considered for students with previous graduate degrees from US colleges/universities. The Department of Chemistry currently does not have a minimum score, but considering the competitive nature of our program, it’s advisable to prepare for this exam and obtain the best score possible. For international students, the combined score (verbal and quantitative reasoning) should be 300 or higher with a minimum writing score of 3.0 or above to be competitive for admission. 2. What is the minimum TOEFL score? We recommend a TOEFL score of 92 or higher (internet based). Scores must be current (within 2-years). 3. Can the IELTS substitute for the TOEFL? What is an acceptable score for the IELTS? Satisfactory scores on the IELTS can be used as evidence of English proficiency. The university minimum IELTS score requirement is 6.5, but Chemistry prefers an IELTS score of 7.0 or higher. 4. What are the VCU codes for the TOEFL and GRE exams? GRE= 5570; TOEFL=5570 5. What is the minimum GPA? “For admission to graduate study at VCU, we prefer a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0.” In cases where the undergraduate GPA is below 3.0, additional factors that include performance in the last 60 hours of course work, GRE scores, and letters of reference, may be weighted more heavily in the admissions assessment. For students with earned graduate degrees from accredited institutions, the graduate GPA may be the primary basis for consideration. 6. What is the Spring/Fall application deadlines for domestic and international students? Application deadlines are particularly important for international students because of the amount of time required to process applications and the time needed to obtain visas. Students should apply well in advance of the international application deadlines. We suggest an application deadline of March 15 for Fall admission and October 15 for Spring admission. Excellent applications may still be considered until late April for Fall admission. However, early applications are encouraged. 7. Is it possible to get application fee waiver? International students should contact Dr. Indika Arachchige at iuarachchige@vcu.edu with scanned copies of GRE (general), TOEFL or IELTS score reports, and academic transcript(s) to request fee waivers. |
